What is TriboTester 2.0?
TriboTester 2.0 is a Windows desktop application that controls a precision tribology testing instrument. It combines a motor-driven XYZ positioning stage with high-sensitivity dual-axis force sensors and real-time data acquisition to support multiple test modes in a single integrated platform.
Version 2.0 expands from V1.0's friction-only capability to four distinct test modes, significantly advancing the instrument's versatility.
Test Modes
Friction Test
Measures friction coefficients through reciprocating sliding contact. Real-time monitoring of normal and lateral force with automatic friction coefficient calculation (μ = F_lateral / F_normal). Time-based or cycle-based termination.
Indentation Test
Depth-controlled indentation measurement. Force vs. depth (F-d) curves reveal material hardness, stiffness, and elastic recovery. Single point, single point multicycle, and automated multi-point modes.
Scratch Test
Controlled linear scratch with progressive loading support. Dual-axis force measurement determines critical loads for coating adhesion and evaluates scratch resistance.
Static Loading
Applies and maintains constant load on sample surface. Ideal for creep behavior studies, stress relaxation experiments, and viscoelastic material characterization.

Automatic buffered file writing. Supports .raw (binary), .tcf (test conditions), and .txt (CSV export) formats for analysis in Excel, MATLAB, or Origin.
Auto Hardware Detection
Automatic detection of motor controllers and sensors on startup. Built-in connection diagnostics, NI DAQmx dual-channel acquisition.
